I caught an Uber to the intriguingly named ‘Love Lane’ in Georgetown. The wise driver told me that the local Chinese say rich men kept their mistresses here. Upon first glance, it didn’t seem as seedy and sordid as that story sounds.
I didn’t have a plan or itinerary. I knew I wanted to island hop and was keen to visit Penang, particularly Georgetown. I’ll explain why later on. Earlier this year, in China I met Myra, who’s from Malaysia. We kept in contact and I gained some local knowledge from her and she recommended an itinerary for island hopping based on what I told her.
I last took a family holiday in 1991. I haven’t avoided them intentionally. I’ve just been curious to see more than Bangladesh. So when Malaysia was posed to me by my sister Reba, I couldn’t resist.
